The Columbus Fancy Canary Association (CFCA) is an organization created to promote and protect the Columbus Fancy Canary.
Known as "America's Type Canary", the Columbus Fancy is the only hybrid canary that has been developed in the United States. There are two varieties of the Columbus Fancy Canary - smooth head and crested. Formed in 1983, the CFCA holds its annual meeting at the National Cage Bird Show in November. In 2011, the show will be held at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in Kansas City, MO, November 17 - 19.
CFCA leg bands are available for purchase to CFCA members. Annual membership dues are $20.00 single ($25 international) / $25.00 dual ($30 international). A newsletter is published three times a year, keeping members in touch, answering questions and helping breeders obtain quality breeding stock. The Columbus Fancy is shown as part of Division 3 at the National Cage Bird Show. In order to promote the Columbus Fancy Canary, the CFCA offers rosettes as awards to local bird club shows.
